Chris Cooper, Founder and CEO

A successful serial entrepreneur. Founded Black Medicine in 2011, in development until January 2014. He founded an internet company in 1993, venture-backed by Sequoia and Highland Capital, and had a successful exit in 1999. Owned Monkey Forest Road coffee bar 2012-2013, where Black Medicine was first served to consumers and developed its technology and reputation. BS in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology, and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Chris Bukowinski, General Manager

Started with the company since launch to market in January of 2014. Prior to joining Black Medicine, spent 17 years in the specialty coffee industry, including time at Starbucks, Peet’s, Blue Bottle and Panama Red. His experience ranges from new store operations manager, where he successfully opened 17 Peet’s locations, to head of training department at Panama Red. During this time, he has managed over 200 employees, successfully trained over 50 managers and further developed his skills in all aspects related to operations in the coffee business. BA in Business and Management from California State University, East Bay.

Drove sales, profits and share improvement for major corporations including Nestle and Nabisco, privately-held organizations such as Foster (Dairy) Farms and Advanced Refreshment, early stage companies such as Odwalla (pre/post IPO) and Drinks-That-Work, and turnarounds like Monterey Bay Chocolates, Inc. BA in Advertising from San Jose State University.

Revenues +80% March over February -- Big New Customer
Black Medicine has signed up a new customer, a grocery chain with over 200 locations. Their initial order has boosted our March 2017 sales by 80% over the previous month. Because this is a high initial order, we can't expect April to be the same, but the reorders in the following months should allow us to hit our projected revenue targets.

Target and 7-11 Coming Soon
We are pleased to announce that we have trials starting at the end of March, or early April, in both Target and 7-11.

The Target trial is in 4-10 stores in the Bay Area, and if it goes well of course we expect to expand the locations.

The 7-11 launch is about 50 stores in one state, not named here. Since we changed our packaging to cans we are now more suitable for convenience stores, so this will be a good test of how well Black Medicine will sell in those venues.
