General Manager - Credit

CircleUp is seeking a General Manager to lead the Credit business. CircleUp is a technology company that leverages Helio, a data aggregation and machine learning platform, to power every stage of private company investing and lending from lead generation and evaluation to monitoring and value creation. This person will be responsible for managing and scaling the company’s credit program to billions in AuM, and for designing the expansion strategy across new customers, products and markets with a deep focus on serving customer needs. 

CircleUp is bringing the data-driven revolution that occurred in the public markets to the private markets, starting with consumer & retail. By leveraging CircleUp’s data capabilities, the credit business has an asymmetric advantage in customer identification and risk assessment -- enabling greater certainty and competitive pricing for prospective customers. Additionally, CircleUp’s equity business reinforces Credit’s advantage through cross-selling opportunities that offer a broad set of financing alternatives and resources. The General Manager will be responsible for deeply understanding customer needs and applying the Helio technology and cross-selling advantages to scale profitable products in a way that no one else in the market can.  The General Manager of Credit will be one of the three P&L owners at CircleUp (alongside the GM of Equities and GM of Helio Access, CircleUp’s external technology solution) and will report to the CEO. This individual will have end-to-end responsibility for the Credit business, including strategy, growth, operations, and oversight of the team and portfolio. The GM will partner closely with the risk data science team.

CircleUp takes a quantamental approach to the private markets and uses Helio to enhance investment sourcing, evaluation, and value creation. 


  • Lead a customer-driven business strategy, including expanding to new customer segments, lending products, geographies and industries
  • Partner with Risk function to set funding strategy and secure capital sources. Remain a key point of contact for deep ongoing engagement with LPs or debt providers to enable the growth of the program
  • Manage business unit P&L 
  • Develop customer acquisition strategies through partnerships and other growth initiatives, and drive top-up and cross-selling strategies across the credit and equity divisions 
  • Oversee portfolio management (cross-sell, refinancing, primary communicator) with existing customers    
  • People management of the established team, comprised of sales, marketing, business operations and relationship management personnel 
  • Partner with Risk to build overall strategy and further develop a risk-based pricing approach, as well as to influence underwriting and collections 
  • Partner with the Chief Product Officer to integrate more data-enabled solutions into the lending process, and to build capabilities for existing customers to support their growth and drive retention     
  • Collaborate with the GM of Equities to drive network effects between internal fund vehicles
  • Participate as a member of the Executive team of CircleUp and operate as an owner and custodian of the parent company 
  • Help create equity value for CircleUp by building a world-leading data platform while driving strong returns in a way that is consistent with CircleUp’s mission to help entrepreneurs to thrive and aligned with the company’s values

Successful Candidates will ideally possess:

  • Deep experience leading and scaling a credit business with a bias to use data & technology to drive efficiency
  • Highly analytical, with ability to distill complex concepts into simple explanations and to effectively communicate between external and internal stakeholders
  • Success in managing a company or business unit P&L
  • Acute customer focus and empathy for entrepreneurs  
  • A builder’s mindset, with clear demonstration of strategic execution 
  • Exceptional management experience and ability to attract, retain and inspire top talent
  • Track record of driving collaboration in a matrixed organization, particularly across risk, product and finance 
  • The desire to transform traditional SME lending and passion for using technology to drive efficiency and transparency in the private markets
